Most of us traditionally reflect this time of year on goals you hope to achieve in the up and coming year.  With regards to your home, the new year brings to focus resolutions for home improvements ie; how to make your home cleaner, more beautiful, and more importantly more efficient place to live in.  You may have ideas of rooms that you want to redecorate, house chores that remain pending from the previous year and things that need replacing as well as the intention to make it an attractive space to inhabit.

Minor changes make a big impact on the home.  Changes around the house come in many forms.  An easy way to give the house a new feel is by de-cluttering. Over the year we all accumulate objects that we do not use or need.  Any excuse to hold off on decluttering your home is long gone.  Lets start with making lists, remember I love lists.

Make a list of projects.  Walk through your home and make notes on any troubling areas, organize it by room. Entryway, living room, bathroom, bedroom, etc. In each room note anything that needs a good cleaning, de-cluttering, replacing, tossing or re-organizing.

Examples:  Dust bunnies under the bed.  Big stack of magazines by the toilet. Falling pile of sweaters on the shelf.  Non working lamp in the living room. Big knotted pile of jewelry on the dresser.  Drab looking bath towels.

When your done write up your project list, room by room.  Examples:  Do a super cleaning of all floors.  Donate magazines.  Fold sweaters like the Gap and purchase shelf guards to keep sweaters stacked.  Toss broken lamp.  Un-tangle jewelry and buy jewelry organizer rack.  Buy pretty bright towels.

Try not to get overwhelmed, you will have plenty of time to focus on tackling your list.  Locating the problem areas and setting goals is half the battle.  If things aren’t coming together just give me a call and I can help you get on track.
